I create art toys by reinterpreting elements that people often overlook in everyday life, adding humor and exaggeration in my own way. Rather than simply making familiar objects, foods, or cultural images look cute, I am interested in transforming them into new characters through playful and imaginative ideas. At the center of this process is the cat. Through cats—animals that are both familiar and emotionally close to people—I aim to create my own “monsters” that are easy to relate to, yet feel slightly strange and unusual.

The characters I design belong to my original series, saucycatsfamily, a group of cat monsters that produce sauce from their bottoms. These characters are not simply cute animal figures; they are mischievous beings who understand everything people say, deliberately play tricks, and enjoy situations with a cheeky attitude. Through their humorous expressions, exaggerated behavior, and the unique concept of sauce, I aim to convey both unexpected humor and a peculiar charm.

I also expand my characters through inspiration drawn from the foods, atmospheres, and emotions associated with different countries and cultures. Whether it is a sauce cat inspired by American barbecue culture or a character based on Korean seasoned fried chicken and various sauces, I combine elements that naturally emerge from different cultures with cats in my own way to create new designs. I see this process as more than character design—it is a playful reinterpretation of cultural imagery.

Rather than creating work that feels difficult or heavy, I hope my art brings a smile at first glance and reveals small details and stories the longer people look at it. Through a balance of familiarity and strangeness, cuteness and mischief, I hope to continue expanding the unique world of saucycatsfamily.
